Charles Raymond McCauley was a newspaper cartoonist who created the Big Stick drawings during the Theodore Roosevelt regime.  His cartoons were published in the New York Daily Mirror.  For forty years Charles McCauley's cartoons appeared in leading newspapers and periodicals in New York and Philadelphia, but for three years previous to his coming East he had drawn cartoons for newspapers in Canton and Cleveland Ohio.  Charles McCauley won the Pulitzer prize for the best cartoon in 1929 .  It appeared in the Brooklyn Eagle under the title Paying for a Dead Horse.        Source: New York Times 11/25/1934.
